iBuild, superior construction award Superior in Construction Award

Students will discover much as they work on this very special project to make thier school a better place.

Once they have investigated their school’s energy use and rated their school’s “greenness,” they will recommend, plan, and build a model of one solution: a green entertainment patio, a rooftop garden, a new green landscape plan, OR a rain garden. This model consists of recycled materials and must fit into a 11''x17'' box-top – in other words, the lid of the box becomes the base of the model. You may not spend more than $5.00 to create your model. Your class will chose the best ones to go to the annual iBuild contest at MCC Business and Technology College where they will be judged with hundreds of others from schools all over the Kansas City area.

Students will understand they will be doing important work that can help their school, their community, and even the world! They will have fun and be challenged at the same time.
