Welcome to the National Institute for Construction Excellence (N.I.C.E.)

What is N.I.C.E.?

N.I.C.E. is a not-for-profit organization whose programs are based on the integration of academics, life skills and exposure to the building and construction industries. N.I.C.E. provides teachers with a curriculum that meets state standards for both Missouri and Kansas in math, science, and communication arts.

Students will have the ability to maximize their individual potential whether entering the workforce or continuing a post secondary education path.

How is this accomplished? Simply put, we will provide the tools for teachers to educate Kansas City metropolitan school district students with the skills required to improve their math, science, and communication skills as they work both individually and in teams to understand and learn in the built environment.

The students will also have the knowledge to become successful professionals in construction-related careers. This is accomplished through an immersive project-based, industry-supported engineering and construction program beginning at the sixth grade level and continuing through senior high.

National Institute for Construction Excellence Programs:

Crayons to CAD is in its 12th year as a collaboration between area educators and N.IC.E. It is a two-week interactive middle school project curriculum designed to provide 6th, 7th and 8th grade students with a solid foundation in understanding key elements of the construction environment. Students create a themed project using math, science, engineering, communication and technology skills which are all heavily embedded in this interactive project-orientated program.

The iBuild Showcase is the premier regional construction industry career event for middle and high school students. Participating students have the opportunity to meet industry professionals and take part in interactive construction displays that reinforce lesson plans. Educational opportunities include apprenticeship, degree and scholarship programs.
